(My Father and My Son) is what it is called in English. this film has plenty to ponder about father son relationship as the name itself suggests.
The story starts with a maternal death and sadik is the father of the child losing his mother. the child is brought up by his maid while sadik is in jail due to some political calamity. When returned from jail he feels lost and wants to return to his native to be with his Father, Mother, his very emotional elder brother and all his close relatives.
The sleepless nights and hallucinations by sadik strongly depicts the kind of treatment he had in jail. On reaching his village, he gets no welcome from his father who always wanted him to study agriculture.
The picture slowly shows us the way Hussain - sadik's father loved him and his 8 yr old son. In one instance hussain buys books for his grandson without other family members knowledge.
It is showed that sadik has fallen ill due to water accumulation in lungs, due to which he dies. The Sweet argument between him and his father before his death is a master piece.
The secret room which is always forbidden for the kid is at last shown to him by his grand father. the room has a video recorder and a projector which has old videos of boyhood sadik and his brother.
The camcorder is now given to the kid by hussain. and is raised by them. The instance when the kid is asked to go to school after a group photo, the kid falls into tears asking for his father, they all try to console him and hussain his grandpa keeps crying.
This Turkish delight strongly depicts the father son relationship.
